Type 2 Diabetes

“30.3 million Americans are living with Type 2 diabetes, and 1 in 4 of them don’t know they have it”- (CDC, 2019)


Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition that affects your blood sugar levels and can increase your risk of heart disease and having a stroke. Most chronic conditions are caused by risk behaviors. By making healthier choices, it will reduce your risk of getting it.


National Risk Factors Include: *Being prediabetic * Being overweight or obese *Lack of physical activity * Family members having prediabetes * Smoking * Giving birth to a baby over 9 pounds


How to Prevent or Delay: * Eating a balanced diet that includes, vegetables, fruits, lean meats & whole grains * Losing at least 5%-7% of your total weight * Exercising at least 30 minutes per day
