Chronic Conditions
“6 in 10 adults in the US have a chronic disease and 4 in 10 adults have two or more” ~ (CDC, 2019)
Chronic conditions are defined as conditions that last 1 year or more that requires ongoing medical treatment and/or limits activities of daily living. More prevalent chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer have led to the $3.3 trillion dollars annually in health care costs.
National Risk Factors Include: *Tobacco use *Poor nutrition * Lack of physical activity *Excessive alcohol use *Secondhand smoke
How to Prevent or Delay: * Getting screened * Eating healthy * Quit smoking *Get enough sleep * Know your family history *Get regular physical activity *Avoid drinking too much alcohol
