As a root that is high in antioxidants, beets are full of excellent vitamins that can be beneficial against cancer. Properties of this root and its’ greens have been beneficial in protecting eye health, reducing high blood pressure, reducing cholesterol levels, maintaining a healthy sex drive. Consuming beets raw has been known to protect cellular compounds from oxidative injury and protect against oxidative damage to DNA, lipid, and protein structures. As we age, our cognitive function begins to deteriorate which can lead to age related diseases such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
